On the way up, a short stop in Frankenmuth gives a taste of German culture. We arrive in Mackinaw City at the intersection of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron in the afternoon. Explore "Mighty Mac," the over 26,000 ft. long Mackinac Bridge. Visit Fort Michilimackinac State Park, a former French trading post built in 1715, to see history come alive*. Or tour the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse* and visit the Icebreaker Museum*.
Day 2
A ferry brings you to Mackinac Island early in the morning — and back to Victorian times. Browse through the many quaint little shops, visit Fort Mackinac* and the imposing Grand Hotel*, take a buggy-ride or ride a bike around the island*, and sample every variety of fudge imaginable*.
